Betty White has earned a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor in a Comedy Series for the second year in a row. The nomination comes for her role as judgmental Polish housekeeper Elka Ostrovsky on TV Land’s hit sitcom ‘Hot in Cleveland,’ which is currently airing its third season on Wedneday nights at 10pm ET/PT. The actress won the award for the same role last year.
Larry W. Jones, the President of TV Land, said “We are so proud to have (Betty) recognized again for her role on ‘Hot in Cleveland. It’s such an honor for us to work with her.” Jones added that White is a true legend, and the chemistry she has with co-stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick is amazing.
‘Hot in Cleveland’ follows three best friends from L.A., Melanie Moretti, played by Bertinelli; celebrity eye-brow waxer Joy Scroggs, portrayed by Leeves; and former soap star Victoria Chase, played by Malick, when their Paris-bound plane makes an emergency stop in Cleveland. The three decide life is better for them in Cleveland, and decide to move there. Their house they rent comes with the opinionated Elka.
The 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will air on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 8pm ET/5pm PT. The ceremony will be held in the Shrine Exposition Center in L.A.
