I never expected that the day would come when “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” would be off my television screen. It has everything that would keep it on television: tears, happy endings, home remodelings, true stories that are heartwarming (to a sappy degree, most times). But it would seem that the day has, indeed, come.

According to Deadline, ABC has cancelled “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” The reason for the cancellation is complicated. First, the show went down steeply in ratings in 2010, and this year, ABC launched their new show “Secret Millionaire,” allowing “Home Edition” to rest. Also, ABC has a solid Sunday hour from “Once Upon a Time.”

Ty Pennington, the host of “Home Edition,” is going to head to ABC’s new daytime show, “The Revolution,” and said that he is grateful to have hosted “Home Edition,” a show he called the greatest job of his life in a “Home Edition” blog post title. You can read more about the cancellation at Deadline.

What do “Home Edition” fans think of the cancellation, especially since a show like “Pan Am” is still hanging on by a thread? Do you think there’s still a bit more life in the show? (Personally, I don’t know, but the guest stars, like First Lady Michelle Obama and The Muppets, were cool). Give your opinions in the comments section below.
