It looks like award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow has found her diamond in the rough once again. Bigelow, who is somewhat responsible for showing that The Hurt Locker’s Jeremy Renner is leading man material, is said to be looking to Everwood star Chris Pratt to lead her upcoming Bin Ladin flick. According to Twitch, Bigelow had Joel Edgerton in mind for the part, but after he turned down due to a schedule issues Chris Pratt is now being seized up for the job. Actor Jason Clark is already on board, and has been cast in the mystery role. Although Pratt is mainly been seen in comedy roles, the Parks and Recreation’s actor has the potential to play a rough and tough hero.
Previously said to be candidates for the Bigelow and Mark Boal collaboration was Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, and Tom Hardy. Hopefully the thirty-two year old Pratt beats them out, it would be refreshing to see the promising actor in a more serious story. At one point Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal’s project, that follows the hunt for the late and notorious terrorist, Bin Laden, was titled Kill Bin Laden, but will now undego a name change since it was developed before his death. Production is scheduled to begin this coming February 2012, and is slated to be released to theaters on December 19th 2012.
