New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly’s son, Greg Kelly, has been accused of raping a woman last year, ABC News is reporting. The Manhattan district attorney is investigating the co-anchor of Fox’s ‘Good Day New York,’ which his lawyer, Andrew Lankler, has confirmed. “Mr. Kelly strenuously denies any wrongdoing and is cooperating fully with the district attorney’s investigation. We know that the district attorney’s investigation will prove Mr. Kelly’s innocence,” he said.
The alleged rape took place at a party at South Street Seaport in October, which the woman attended with coworkers from her Wall Street firm. The incident reportedly happened in her office, after the two left the party. The woman has reportedly been in touch with Kelly after the alleged assault, and messages sent between the two following the reported rape have been under review.
Police officials and the Manhattan district attorney has declined to comment on the details of the case. Deputy Police Commissioner for Public Information Paul Browne said that his office wasn’t making calls to detectives or District Attorney Cyrus Vance, in an effort to avoid any suggestion of conflict of interest.
The woman was reportedly first interviewed on January 25, 2012 by detectives. The case was then passed to the district attorney due to the risk of conflict of interest.
