Talk of a third Bridget Jones installment has made it to the forefront once again. This time Deadline has reported that the cast of Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, and the production team are adamant “to make this movie this year.” Rumors that producers are still “tweaking the script”, causing the hold up, was also confirmed by Working Title Films, who issued a statement Friday vowing to make the film in 2012. Either way things are looking up for the hilarious RenĂ©e Zellweger comedy franchise that has a reported working title of ‘Bridget Jones’ Baby’.
If movie heads can fight through a few production issues, such as the loss of director Paul Fieg (Bridesmaids) with newcomer Peter Cattaneo stepping up to the helm, and some script differences, the return of Bridget Jones could score big at the box office. Both prior installments, per AceShowbiz, managed to take home roughly $544 million globally. Helen Fielding and David Nicholls are writing the screenplay.
Renee Zellweger’s last movie role was in the 2010 movie ‘My Own Love Song’, while Bridget Jones’ actor Colin Firth has been seen in ‘The King’s Speech’ and ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’. Hugh Grant has been busy with ‘Did You Hear About the Morgans?’ and the upcoming flick ‘The Pirates! Band of Misfits’.
