While discussing ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ with TNT Magazine, in preparation for The London Super Comic Con, Stan Lee discussed his thoughts on the film and it’s competition with ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’ Comic Book Movie is reporting that when the comic book writer was asked what he thought of British actors playing the American characters he created, Spider-Man and The Lizard, he said “I love British actors. I wish I were British. When British people talk it sounds more impressive than when Americans talk.’
Lee also discussed the concern of ‘The Social Network’ star Andrew Garfield replacing Toby Maguire as Spider-Man. “Everybody was worried about Garfield. How could he replace Maguire? But he brings a whole new feeling to it, the way Parker ought to be but with a different take on it. From what I have seen, the public will love it,” Lee said.
The release of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ on July 4, 2012 is also raising questions on how it will fare against ‘The Avengers,’ set for release on May 4, and more importantly, ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ which will hit theaters on July 22. Lee wasn’t concerned about the competitor, saying when he releases a movie, he knows he’s going against a lot of good films. He added that Batman is “damn good,” but is darker than what they’re going for at Marvel Studios.
