Harrison Ford has entered into talks to join director Ridley Scott’s ‘Blade Runner’ sequel, Collider is reporting. However, it’s unknown whether he’ll reprise his role of Rick Deckard from the original film in a cameo role or as a main character, or play a different character.
The news comes after Ford initially said he “wouldn’t feel bad if I were not invited to the party.” Andrew Kosgrove, the president of Alcon Entertainment, which is developing the sequel, also said “If you’re asking me will this movie have anything to do with (Harrison) Ford, the answer is no.” Scott added that there was no chance Ford would reprise his role in what is “liable to be a sequel.” He also said the follow-up wouldn’t follow the original film’s characters.
Scott added the development on the ‘Blade Runner’ sequel is “quite a long way in.” However, he and Alcon are still looking for a writer to pen the script, so they still have time to rework the story around Deckard.
The news of Ford’s possible return comes as Scott’s set to release his sci-fi film ‘Prometheus’ on June 8, 2012. The movie is rumored to be a prequel to his hit movie ‘Alien,’ but he hasn’t confirmed the reports.
