Taylor Swift has already given her voice to the soundtrack of “The Hunger Games”; now, she’s going to be partnering with Viacom for what is being marketed as MTV’s “first global music video premiere,” according to Reuters.
According to the article, the music video at the center of the premiere, Swift’s “Safe & Sound,” featuring the Civil Wars, will air Feb. 13. According to Van Toffler, the president of Viacom Music & Logo Group, the video is set to reach 600+ households worldwide.
Toffler told TheWrap that Viacom has probably not premiered the music video of an artist on this scale before. “I’m not sure we’ve ever done a global artist video premiere across all of our channels domestically, much less globally,” Toffler said.
The logistics for the premiere is intense. The music video will air during an MTV News special at 7:45 p.m. ET. It will then be simulcast on other MTV channels in Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa as well as online at TaylorSwfit.MTV.com in 150+ territories. The video will then air on CMT and MTV’s websites, such as VH1.com, MTV.com and MTV’s international sites.
