The first pictures of Will Smith and his son Jaden on the Costa Rican set of their blockbuster film ‘After Earth’ have been released, SlashFilm is reporting. The film, which is being directed by M. Night Shyamalan, is expected to be released in Summer 2013. The director has posted several behind-the-scenes shots in the film’s jungle location on Twitter, and Will’s reps have even released several pictures on his Facebook page.

The pictures show Will and Jaden as they’ll appear in ‘After Earth.’ Will is aged, and Jaden sports a clean appearance, as they play a father and son who return to Earth 1000 years after the planet has been abandoned. The story focuses on what happens when a heroic father, played by Will, is captured, forcing his underachieving son, portrayed by Jaden, to save him. Zoe Kravitz and Sophie Okonedo reportedly round out the family.

The pictures are the initial images released from ‘After Earth,’ as the post-apocalyptic movie just began shooting. Besides the photos of Will and Jaden, there are also images of the filmmaker setting up shots, as well as the cameras he’s using. Shyamalan has said he’s the first director to use the Sony F65 camera to film a movie.
