FilmNation Entertainment has brokered some hefty deals for ‘Haywire’ director Steven Soderbergh’s soon to be block buster hit ‘Bitter Pill’. Not only will the film hit theaters in the United States, but the UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, Israel, Portugal, and more.
‘Bitter Pill’ stars Rooney Mara from ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’, as well as Channing Tatum, who seems to work side by side with Soderbergh a lot these days, Catherine Zeta Jones, and ‘Sherlock Holmes’ star Jude Law. The film was written by writer Scott Z. Burns, and centers on a young woman whose husband’s release from prison has her relying on prescription drugs for anxiety and depression, “an act that causes unforeseen consequences.”
While sparse plot details doesn’t support the global appeal, Soderbergh’s name attached to the project could be the reason, and a cast line-up filled with talent making ‘Bitter Pill’ sell out everywhere. Filming on the upcoming thriller, formerly known as ‘Side Effects’, will kick off this coming April and is slated to hit theaters in the beginning of 2013. So much for Soderbergh’s retirement. The director is also working on ‘Behind the Candelabra’ and the upcoming stripper tale of actor Channing Tatum’s youth, ‘Magic Mike’.
