Lionsgate has release two new television spots and a new picture from the highly anticipated film ‘The Hunger Games,’ Collider is reporting. The clips from the movie, which beat the previous Fandango record holder for the first day of sales, ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,’ are titled ‘Tribute’ and ‘Team.’
‘Tribute’ showcases the relationship between the lead character, Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence, and her sister, Primrose, portrayed by Willow Shields. ‘Team’ allows fans to see the training for the games. The photo gives a glimpse of Cinna, the personal stylist of District 12’s tributes, played by Lenny Kravitz.
‘The Hunger Games,’ which was directed by Gary Ross and also stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, follows the evil Capitol of the Panem nation as it forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. The Games, which serve as a punishment for a past uprising and is an ongoing government intimidation tactic, are televised every year. Each districts’ participants, called “Tributes,” are forced to fight until only one survivor remains.
Katniss takes the place of Primrose in the Games, after she was chosen in the lottery. Katniss is pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for the Games their entire lives, but she relies on her instincts, as well as drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy, to survive.
