Judd Apatow’s HBO series entitled ‘Girls’is making its debut soon and in promotion of the show’s premiere a first look trailer of the comedy has been released. Scheduled to air on Sunday, April 15th at 10:30 PM on the cable network, the trailer shows actress Lena Dunham in the role of the lead character, a twenty-four year old woman named Hannah, who moves to New York City where she “overcomes both various financial and personal obstacles” after her parents put a stop to her cash flow, and her boyfriend treats her badly, as confirmed by Hollywood.Com. Recently talking with Collider, Dunham sahred that the comedy and her character is something she can relate to. “It’s closely based on my own experience of getting out of college and not having a sense of whether I would ever get to do the thing I wanted to do, and I was really miserable. I was working in a baby clothes store, and was just excited that I got free cookies in the afternoon. It was a really confusing, frustrating time, and I saw a lot of my friends going through the same thing, but it didn’t feel like it was being reflected back at us.
It is a storyline we’ve all seen before, but with Judd Apatow and Lena Dunham at the wheel this could be exciting. Dunham is not only the star, she writes, and is directing the comedy series that resembles ‘Sex and the City’. According to HBO, the new show will give “a comic look at the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of a group of girls in their early 20s.” HBO has ordered 10 episodes of ‘Girls’. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think. Does the series have potential to stick around?
