With no Kim Fowley in sight, Cherri Bomb will have a shot to outlast the most groundbreaking girl rock group of all time, The Runaways. Yes, Fowley is a musical genius, but his outlandish behavior would not suffice in the music industry of the 21st Century. The Runaways’ similarities don’t end just with the gender and age of Cherri Bomb’s members, emphasis on the Cherri Bomb. If the band name sounds unfamiliar then Kim Fowley probably didn’t ring a bell either, but regardless, The Runaways had a hit song titled “Cherry Bomb”.
The band comparisons will end here because Cherri Bomb is a part of an entirely different generation and well deserves its individualized praise. The 2012 teenage female rockers, who are managed by ex-Hole drummer, Samantha Maloney, are gearing up for the release of their debut album, “This Is The End of Control”. The full-length album will drop on May 15th via Hollywood Records.
In support of the forthcoming release, Cherri Bomb recently unleashed a brand new track off of the album, “Raw.Real.” which premiered on AltPress.com. The LA based band performed the song for an exclusive video series on Buzznet. The live clip will permanently destroy a long recycled question, “Can girls rock out?” The Runaways proved that to you back in the late 70s and Cherri Bomb will refresh your memory.
