I recently reported on the news that Liam Neeson is, in fact, going to be featured in “The Dark Knight Rises.” I wrote that what would really be the spoilerific news is if we find out what Neeson is, in fact, doing in the film. CNN Marquee News asked him that very question at the “Wrath of the Titans” press junket, and his answer was a little surprising, even with the given knowledge about director Christopher Nolan’s secrecy.
“I have no idea what the story is about. Nothing. Nothing,” he said to CNN. “Seriously, I’m not sure if I’m still in it. It’s a cameo–let’s put it that way–if it still survives.”
So even Neeson doesn’t know what he’s actually doing in the film. Bravo Mr. Nolan–by not telling the actors the main parts of your story, you have made this film an unbreakable safe. I guess in the long run, I’m glad everything’s still a mystery. At the very least, it’ll make seeing the film in the theater that much more enjoyable.
“The Dark Knight Rises,” starring Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Michael Caine as Alfred, comes to theaters July 20.
