FEARnet has already renewed its first original series, ‘Holliston,’ for a second season, even though the show has only aired three episodes so far, Deadline is reporting. The 1980s-throwback horror-comedy will premiere its sophomore season in summer 2013.
‘Holliston,’ which was created by genre filmmaker Adam Green and produced by ArieScope Pictures, is the first original production for FEARnet’s cable network. The series stars Green and Joe Lynch, who will both be returning for the follow-up season. They will be joined once again by co-stars Laura Ortiz, Brokedown Cadillac lead singer Corri English, Dee Snider and GWAR lead singer Oderus Urungus.
FEARnet GM and president Peter Block said “‘Holliston’ resonates with both genre junkies and more mainstream, comedy fans alike.” He added that the show makes “our first push into original programming a successful attempt for diversifying our schedule and showing the breadth of our audience.”
Green said he’s overjoyed by the audience’s reaction to the show. “It’s amazing to watch the characters be embraced so quickly and to see fans quoting it on Twitter, Facebook and at conventions across the country.” ‘Holliston,’ which airs on FEARnet on Tuesday nights, is part of the network’s Twisted Comedy Block.
