The wife and mother of Adam Mayes, the man suspected of killing a Tennessee woman and her oldest daughter and kidnapping her two younger daughters, have been arrested, MSNBC is reporting. Mayes’ wife, Teresa, is charged with four counts of aggravated kidnapping. His mother, Mary Francis, is charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping.
Teresa and Mary were arraigned this morning. In a police affidavit, Teresa said that she was involved in taking the Bain family from Hardeman County. She drove them to Union County, Mississippi. Her bond is set at $500,000, while Mary’s is set at $300,000.
Teresa’s sister, Bobbi Booth, said that Teresa lived with Adam and his parents in Alpine, Mississippi. Booth also said her sister told her she knew about the killings. Booth felt that her sister was too afraid to call the police.
The bodies of Jo Ann Bain and her 14-year-old daughter, Adrienne, were found behind a house in northern Mississippi late last week. The FBI believed Jo Ann’s two younger daughters, 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah, were still with Adam.
Jo Ann and her three daughters disappeared on April 27. Their car was found not far from their Whiteville home in a field. They were reported mixxing by Jo Ann’s husband, Gary.
