We’re back in Reboot Land, people! Tom Cruise has just landed the part of the title character in the reboot of “Van Helsing,” according to Comic Book Movie.
The site posted the press release concerning the film, which also states that writing/producing team Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have signed a two-year, first-look production deal with Universal Pictures. They will be behind several “reimagin[ed]” titles, including “Van Helsing” and “The Mummy.”
“Alex and Roberto are extraordinarily talented writers and producers who know the value of a great story in building successful tentpole films,” said Universal Pictures Chairman Adam Fogelson and Universal Pictures Co-Chairman Donna Langley in a statement. “They have been a major part of some of Hollywood’s biggest movies and television shows in recent history, and we’re eager to have them build on that success at Universal.”
You can read the whole release at Comic Book News. As for how I feel about Tom Cruise as Van Helsing? It’s great, I guess. It sounds good. I’ll have to see some more information about the reimagining to have a really concrete response, but I’ll say that anything is better than that 2004 weirdness.

Bring It On. I’m betting early that this one will make us forgive the other piece of fail.
Cruise always does good but I’m doubting the two writers.
