Drafthouse Films will release its international hit comedy ‘Klown’ in select theaters in Los Angeles, New York and Austin and on VOD on July 27. The studio acquired the film after its Texas premiere at Fantastic Fest, where it won Best Picture in the Comedy Features competition. ‘Klown,’ which was directed by Mikkel Norgaard, has been will receive an English language remake with Todd Phillips producing and starring Danny McBride.

‘Klown’ follows two inappropriate friends, played by comedians Frank Hyam and Casper Christensen, as they have countless awkward confrontations in the Danish countryside. Frank kidnaps the 12-year-old nephew of his pregnant girlfriend in an effort to prove he’s ready to be a father.

The two join sex-crazed Casper on his secret adulterous weekend canoe trip. The three visit exclusive brothels and a prison, undergo hospitalizations and even become involved in armed robberies. Even with their chaotic misadventures, they have a surprise sentimental portrait of friendship.
