With the recent rumors circulating over who will play the important role of Finnick Odair in ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,’ producer Nina Jacobson is denying two actors are in the running-Garrett Hedlund and Armie Hammer, Slashfilm is reporting. Jacobson added that the two aren’t being considered, because there isn’t a shortlist at this time. The news comes after Robert Pattinson and Taylor Kitsch both denied they were being considered for the role.

Many of the actors who will be appearing in director Francis Lawrence’s film adaptation of the second novel in Suzanne Collins’ popular young adult series will be returning from its predecessor. However, there are several important new characters that need to be cast. Finnick, a 24-year-old former victor who’s known as a womanizer, is one such character.

Jacobson said the rumors of who will play Finnick are not true, and “that’s the thing that’s crazy-people are like way ahead of where we are.” She added that “we’ve not narrowed things down by any means. It’s funny to see how things can take on a life of their own.”

Lionsgate isn’t letting fan-casting be a huge part of their decision-making process. But ‘Catching Fire’s is expected to begin shooting in the fall, and the release date is set for November 22, 2013, so casting is expected to begin soon.
