Robert Pattinson is attempting to distance himself from the movie series that made him famous, ‘The Twilight Saga,’ and hopes to do so by playing a superhero in the future, Comic Book Movie is reporting. The actor, who most recently pushed himself as an actor in David Cronenberg’s ‘Cosmopolis,’ revealed his superhero ambitions while speaking to CBC Television’s George Stroumboulopoulos. Pattinson added that he finds Heath Ledger’s Academy Award-winning performance as The Joker in ‘The Dark Knight’ as powerful and outside the box.
Pattinson added that after Ledger’s performance as The Joke, he thought “that was going to change everything about how the big budget movies are made.” However, he added that the movie didn’t change anything at all.
“If every single actor wasn’t afraid of trying to do something slightly abstract and not concerned about their movie making tons and tons of money, then eventually the industry would change,” hPattinson also said. He added that he’s determined to push himself as an actor and he’d be willing to make smaller or less mainstream movies to do so.
When asked by Stroumboulopoulos if he wants to achieve such an iconic role, Pattinson said “I think you can once. I don’t know how many other times.”
