After Colin Farrell and Bryan Cranston signed on to star as the primary protagonist, Doug Quaid, and antagonist, Vilos Cohaagen, respectively, in the upcoming ‘Total Recall’ remake, Ethan Hawke was the next high-profile star to be cast. Screen Rant is now reporting the spoiler details about Hawke’s character, who had previously remained a mystery.
While at the Pinewood Studios in Toronto, producer Toby Jaffe explained Hawke’s role in ‘Total Recall.’ He also spoke about how the character relates to Farrell’s Doug Quaid/Hauser character, who learned through the Welcome to Rekall company that he has lost more than just his memories.
Jaffe said “Not to give away too much, but one of the big differences between the earlier film and this film is that not only do they erase his (Doug) memory but they change the way he looks, so he has a different face. (Ethan) plays who he was before they wipe his mind and changed his face.”
Jaffe’s revelation comes after speculation over who Hawke would be playing, since it was announced there wouldn’t be any mutants in director Len Wiseman’s remake. The revelation also comes after Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale and Bill Nighy signed on to play returning characters Melina, Lori and Kuato (now named Matthias), respectively, from the original 1990 film.
