Now that Fox’s ‘House’ is over actor Hugh Laurie has an open schedule and by the sounds of it he could be signing up for his first major role as the villain of the forthcoming reboot RoboCop since saying farewell to his longtime character, Dr. Gregory House. According to Variety, who just broke the news, Laurie is in talks with movie head’s to play the CEO of Omni Corp. Right now the studio isn’t sharing any details when it comes to negotiations surrounding Laurie’s casting.
The movie’s cast includes lead star Joel Kinnaman in the story about “a crime-ridden city, a fatally wounded cop returns to the force as a powerful cyborg with submerged memories haunting him.” Gary Oldman also stars, playing the scientist who creates him, while actress Abbie Cornish is set to play his wife. Samuel L. Jackson is on board as a “patriotic media mogul.” RoboCop will be directed by Jose Padilha with a script from Josh Zetumer. Eric Newman and Marc Abraham of Strike Entertainment will produce. RoboCop will be released by way of Sony Pictures on August 9th 2013. Hugh Laurie’s resume includes the movie Oranges, Arthur’s Christmas, Monsters vs Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space, and Hop.
