Disney has decided to get to work on a sequel for their 1993 movie ‘Hocus Pocus’ that starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as three sister witches who are resurrected on Halloween night in Salem, Massachusetts. According to Moviehole, who dropped the news, the kid friendly movie giant will develop ‘Hocus Pocus 2: Rise of the Elderwitch’ that will tell an “all-new tale, though set in the same surrounds as the first film and likely tackling similar territory.”
Since the trio of actresses that starred in the original won’t most likely sign on for the next installment it looks like Disney will enlist the help of new faces to play the sister witches as well as the roles of the two teenagers, the young girl, and their immortal cat that saves the day. Check out the official plot that will most likely be tweaked for modern day and get a look at the trailer from the original ‘Hocus Pocus’ below. The movie will reportedly be released in 2013.
“More than 300 years ago, 3 witches were sentenced to die in Salem, Massachusetts and a boy was turned into a cat (a black cat, naturally). Now it’s Halloween, and the witches (who fly on [I kid you not] vacuum cleaners) are back. This time, they’ve got their eyes on immortal life and have turned their wrath on trick-or-treaters and it’s up to the 300-year-old cat to save the day.”
