Hulu is set co-produce its first international production with the BBC for the highly anticipated fourth season of the political U.K. comedy ‘The Thick of It.’ Through a partnership with BBC Worldwide Amercias, Hulu and Hulu Plus will exclusively stream the series in the U.S. The first three seasons of the acclaimed series, as well as the two specials released between the three seasons, will be broadcast.
Hulu will also exclusively premiere the fourth season of ‘The Thick of It’ in the U.S., which will initially air on Hulu Plus at the same time it plays in the U.K. The series will return to the U.S. on television on BBC America early next year.
‘The Thick of It’ was created and written by Armando Iannucci, the acclaimed scribe of HBO’s ‘Veep’ and the Academy Award-nominated film ‘In the Loop.’ ‘The Thick of It’ satirically looks into the inner workings of the British government, at the fictional Department of Social affairs and Citizenship. Shot with hand-held cameras, the show follows the embarrassment, backroom deals, backstabbing and speculation commonly seen in politics.
Hulu SVP of Content, Andy Forssell, said “I very quickly became obsessed with this show, and it is exactly the kind of show Hulu viewers will love.” He added that Hulu is “excited to give U.S. audiences a chance to catch up with all previous episodes.”
