We’re only a few hours away from the release of “The Dark Knight Rises;” perhaps you might have already bought your tickets. If you have, your money is now among the $25 million Warner Bros. has now earned.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Dark Knight Rises” has earned $25 million in advanced sales. The pre-release tracking is such that it suggests the Christopher Nolan film will be the biggest opening of all time for a non-3D film.
“The Dark Knight Rises” is also getting a huge boost from IMAX. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Dark Knight Rises” is getting released in 330 theaters, and insiders believe the IMAX ticket sales will surpass the $15.3 million “Marvel’s The Avengers” earned.
Even though most signs point to “The Dark Knight Rises” being a formidable opponent to “Marvel’s The Avengers” and its overall domestic gross of $207.4 million, some say that perhaps the lack of 3D will prevent the film from reaching the “Avengers” levels. Something that could also prevent the film from grossing as much as it could; the two hour, 43 minute running time of the movie.
