‘The Crazies’ helmer Breck Eisner has signed on to direct the live-action film based on Stretch Armstrong for Relativity Media. The film studio’s President, Tucker Tooley, has announced that Relativity will develop and produce the film, which is set for an April 11, 2014 release, with Hasbro, Inc. Relativity will distribute the movie domestically, and will release the film internationally through its network of foreign output partners.
Dean Georgaris, who is known for penning ‘Lara Croft Tom Raider: The Cradle of Life’ and ‘The Manchurian Candidate,’ will write the Stretch Armstrong film. The adaptation will be produced by Relativity’s CEO, Ryan Kavanaugh and Hasbro’s CEO, Brian Goldner.
The action film will be an original story that introduces the character of Lucas Armstrong. He faces life-or-death consequences after undergoing a transformation that gave him superhuman abilities.
Eisner said the film “is a fantastic opportunity to create a world that is broth fresh and exhilarating. What really excites me is he chance to build a hero from the ground up.”
