Principal photography on director Robert Luketic’s thriller ‘Paranoia’ is set to begin tomorrow, Reliance Entertainment and IM Global announced today. The $40 million film, which will be be co-produced William D. Johnson, will be distributed in the U.S. by Relativity Media. The studio picked up the market and distribution rights on the eve of the Cannes Film Festival.
The high-tech corporate espionage thriller stars ‘The Hunger Games’ Liam Hemsworth, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Gary Oldman, Harrison Ford, Lucas Till, Amber Heard, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’s Embeth Davidtz and Richard Dreyfuss. ‘Paranoia,’ which will be distributed internationally by IM Global, is set to debut in U.S. theaters on September 27, 2013.
‘Paranoia’ will be shot on location in Philadelphia and New York. The screenplay, which was based on Joseph Finder’s novel of the same name, was written by Barry L. Levy and Jason Dean Hall.
The thriller follows Adam Cassidy, played by Hemsworth, a blue collar guy trying to get ahead in his entry-level job at Wyatt Telecom. Adam is confronted by ruthless CEO Nicholas Wyatt after making a costly and illegal mistake.
Nicholas agrees not to turn Adam in, as long as he infiltrates the competition as a corporate spy. Adam soon finds himself surrounded by an expensive life he’s only ever dreamed of, as Nicholas prepares to stop at nothing to get a multi-billion dollar advantage. Adam realizes that his only way out of Nicholas’ ruthless game is to go in deeper.
