We’ve come a long way since I last updated you on the status of my Columbia University MFA thesis film, “The Professor.” Not only have we picked up more crewmembers and met our Kickstarter goal, but we’ve been fortunate enough to cast Betsy Brandt of “Breaking Bad” as one of our lead characters, The Professor.
She’s an ex- media studies professor who’s so fed up with corporate media, she gets a group of her students to kidnap a famous news anchor, Thomas Brookstone. She has the gang bring Brookstone back to their compound in the woods and force him to read “The Real News” live on the Internet. However, as their mission grows increasingly violent, one of her loyal followers, a student named George, begins to doubt her cause.
Brandt joins a cast that also features Rick Peters of “Dexter” as Brookstone and Dustin Ingram of “Paranormal Activity 3” as George as well as a group of very talented up and comers as the Professor’s band of students including Nick Cianfrogna, Franz Quitt, Erica Genereux Smith and Christopher Fahmie.
