Fans of the popular ‘Paranormal Activity’ series are being asked to vote to bring the anticipated third sequel in the franchise to their city first. Paramount Pictures, which is releasing ‘Paranormal Activity 4’ in theaters on October 19, will debut the fourth installment of the series in 25 cities around the world before it’s officially released.
Fans can vote to bring ‘Paranormal Activity 4’ to their city through Facebook’s Want It application on the film’s fan page on the social networking site. Want It recognizes a fan’s geo-location according to their Facebook profile and automatically registers a vote to bring the film to their city first. Votes will be shared on users’ pages, so that their friends can vote for their city as well. Voters can also track the ranking of their city, as well as the top cities, through the application.
Amy Powell, the Executive Vice President of Interactive Media at Facebook, said the success of the entire ‘Paranormal Activity’ series came from social media. “Now we’re creating an even more dynamic experience among the film’s community of fans,” she added.
Matt Jacobson, the head of market development at Facebook, added the film franchise has a special relationship with the social networking site. “We’re excited to see continued iteration on a franchise that was born on Facebook,” he also said.
Fans can also vote for their city on the ‘Paranormal Activity 4’s official website. The film was directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman.
