Children’s network Nickelodeon has taken second place to its television rival, Disney Channel. Gone are the days when slime ruled supreme and Snick was the ultimate in tween entertainment. Now, Nickelodeon has decided to fight back with its new programming plan for 2013 and beyond.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Nick announced that they have greenlighted a number of series and pilots from the creative teams behind “Frasier,” “Reba,” “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “iCarly” and “Victorious.” This fall, the network will launch “See Dad Run,” a live-action comedy starring Scott Baio (“Happy Days,” “Charles in Charge”) and the animated series “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
The following shows are under current production, according to the Hollywood Reporter:
current live action productions: “Wendell and Vinnie” (Nick at Nite series), “You Gotta See This” (Nickelodeon series), “Swindle” (Nickelodeon movie/working title), and “Nicky Deuce” (Nickelodeon movie/working title). Nick is currently producing the following animated productions: “Sanjay & Craig” (Nickelodeon series), “Monsters vs. Aliens” (Nickelodeon series), and “Monty and Norville” (Nickelodeon preschool series/working title).
The following live-action shows have been picked up for pilots: “Sam & Cat” (Nickelodeon pilot/working title), “Gibby” (Nickelodeon pilot/working title), “The Haunted Hathaways” (Nickelodeon pilot/working title), “The Thundermans” (Nickelodeon pilot/working title), and “Instant Mom” (Nick at Nite pilot/working title).
The following animated shows have been picked up for pilots: “Bad Seeds” (Nickelodeon pilot) and “Blaze and the Monster Machines” (Nickelodeon preschool pilot/working title).
