Mario Cimarro is having a busy year. The actor, best known for his lead role on Telemundo’s primetime series “Pasion de Gavilanes,” has signed on to have a recurring role on USA Network’s “Necessary Roughness”. Cimarro plays a character named Augusto, a Spanish chef that returns incognito to team up with Dr. Dani (Callie Thorne) in an effort to surprise Jeanette (Amanda Detmer). Mario’s next appearance on “Necessary Roughness” will be on August 22 in the episode “Double Fault.”
“Coming back to this production that has grown so much and finding everyone is still the same, from the crew to the actors and director, is very gratifying,” said Cimarro when asked about his return to the series. “Director Jim Hayman has that magic touch of the good actor’s director and Callie Thorne is a generous and talented actress as well as a great human being.”
Cimarro is also starring in two feature films, both set for release this year. The first, “Mediterranean Blue”, debuts in November at the Dominican International Film Festival. He plays Andres, a Spanish policeman conflicted by the duty to his job and loyalty to his family. Spanish director Martin Garrido Baron, who worked to get an international cast for the film, directs the film. Cimarro’s second leading role is in the film “The Black Russian,” mostly shot in India. Cimarro plays Dominic, a bachelor and lawyer who always been a point of reference to his best friend until things spiral out of control.
Cimarro’s previous credits include “El cuerpo del Deseo,” “Los Herederos del Monte,” as well as the feature films “Rockaway” and “Puras Joyitas.”
