Summit Entertainment announced yesterday that the Twitter page for its hit fantasy adventure drama series ‘The Twilight Saga’ is the first film page to surpass one million follows on the popular microblogging service. The studio created the page in October 2009, a month before the second installment in the franchise, ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon,’ hit theaters.
To celebrate the achievement, Summit released a video on YouTube, thanking the million fans who followed ‘The Twilight Saga’ on Twitter. The video can be viewed below. The franchise’s cast members are also using the Twitter hashtag #Twihards4EVER to thank the fans for their support.
The Twitter page for ‘The Twilight Saga’ has consistently been used to share exclusive content and news with fans. The page has posted first look images and messages from the series’ filmmakers.
Some of the highlights included on ‘The Twilight Saga’s Twitter page include drawing in nearly 1.7 million views for the first teaser trailer for ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 2.’ For ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,’ Summit released a new track name and artist for the film’s soundtrack every half-hour.
For ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon,’ fans were encouraged to tweet how many times they had seen the film, with the hashtag #SeeNewMoonAgain in the message. The winner received a phone call from director Chris Weitz.
