You may know Terrence Jenkins (formerly known as Terrence J) from BET’s music video countdown show, “106 & Park,” but he has become much more than just a countdown show host. He is a rising star in Hollywood and he has recently been named the new co-host of E! News.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Terrence Jenkins will slip into Ryan Seacrest’s former slot as co-host of E! News. Seacrest’s myriad of new opportunities and responsibilities has rendered him unable to co-host as regularly as he used to, so E! hired Jenkins to join Giuliana Rancic at the weekday anchor desk beginning November 12th. As a new anchor, Jenkins will not only work at the news desk, but he will work on personality profiles as well.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this new hire comes as the newly-rebranded network aims to be a bigger player in competitive breaking news under the leadership of chairwoman Bonnie Hammer. Hammer says of the move: “The most important thing for E! to move forward is credibility, with immediacy being a close second.”
E! President of Network Strategy and E! News Cyndi McClellan comments on Jenkins: “Terrence Jenkins is a talented and well-connected television personality who will bring an original sensibility to our news programs.”
Jenkins adds: “I’ve always had a passion for the wide spectrum of pop culture that E! News covers so well; I can’t wait to get started. I’ve had a great career so far, and it’s all been building toward this.”
Seacrest will remain managing editor of the news program and will continue to host and produce E! red carpet award show coverage.
Congratulations, Terrence!
