Funtactix, in partnership with Lionsgate, has announced that ‘The Hunger Games Adventures,’ the official social game for the ‘Hunger Games’ franchise, is now available for the iPad. The worldwide developer and publisher’s release of the table game, in anticipation for the upcoming sequel in the hit sci-fi action adventure series, ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,’ will allow gamers to explore new authentic stories. Tablet gamers can also explore what Facebook users have already been enjoying, including such content as the anticipated Map of Panem.
Players of ‘The Hunger Games Adventures’ were recently presented with the first-ever map of Panem, which depicts the actual locations of Districts 2, 11 and 12, as well as the Capitol. This marks the first time a central piece of a major global franchise has been released inside a social game between films. The release of the map shows the potential of social games as a mature storytelling platform. The remaining districts will be revealed to iPad and Facebook players as they’re introduced to the game.
In ‘The Hunger Games Adventures,’ players embark on an adventure beyond the fence of District 12, allowing them the chance to explore the other districts in Panem for the first time. After completing new chapters, fans can uncover character back-stories and exclusive content from the ‘Hunger Games’ franchise not available anywhere else. Players will also be accompanied by their favorite characters, including Katniss, Peeta and Gale, for help and guidance as they complete quests.
‘The Hunger Games Adventures’ debuted on Facebook in March to coincide with the release of ‘The Hunger Games’ in theaters. The game has quickly become one of the top adventure games on the social networking site, receiving positive reviews from critics and fans. ‘The Hunger Games Adventures’ is now available for free from the App Store on iPad or on the iTunes official website.
Sam Glassenberg, the CEO of Funtactix, said bringing ‘The Hunger Games Adventures’ to the iPad “allows a new group of fans to experience what millions have played on Facebook. Using the iPad’s touch screen creates a more intimate and accessible experience for fans as they journey through the deep, authentic world on a quest to become the next hero of Panem.”
