Wes Bentley and Brit Marling have been cast in the biographical historical drama ‘The Green Blade Rises.’ The feature film follows Abraham Lincoln’s formative years, with Bentley playing the future President’s first teacher. Marling has been cast as Nancy, Lincoln’s biological mother, who leaves to endure pioneer life. The two join Diane Kruger and ‘Public Enemies’ star Jason Clarke, who have already been cast as the president’s step-mother and father.
‘The Green Blade Rises’ chronicles the hardships that shaped Lincoln, including when his father abandoned him in the harsh winter wildernesses. The film also shows the two women who guided the president to become one of the most influential leaders in American history.
‘The Green Blade Rises’ marks the directorial debut of AJ Edwards, who also wrote the film’s original screenplay. The movie is being produced by ‘Terrence Malick, who previously worked with Edwards on the ‘The Tree of Life,’ ‘To The wonder’ and ‘The New World.’ ‘The Green Blade Rises’ is being produced in association with Brothers K.
