ShockYa has been given exclusive news that AWOLNATION and Red Bull Records have worked together to debut the AWOL “NATION” Project, “the latest in fan-to-band-to-fan networking,” according to AWOLNATION. The site is an innovation in community-driven sites in that it creates a living experience centered around fan-contributed content, which includes media from YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Vimeo. Your content will show up as long as it’s been tagged with the hashtag #awolnation. Once you do that, your media will show up on AWOL “NATION” in real-time.
As the site evolves and fans converse with each other about their content, the fans will be able to engage with the band like they never could before. Also, if fans geo-tag their posts, the posts will show up on a custom Google-powered map and give fans the opportunity to interact with each other as well as with the band.
The Uprising Creative is the design and development company behind the new fan site and used a custom WordPress install along with custom-built tools to tap into the APIs from Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo and Instagram. Google Maps API is also used to help with the geo-tagged content.
