Sony has dropped the news that actor Andrew Garfield will be back for a second installment of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’. Garfield plans to reprise his role as Peter Parker under the wing of returning director Marc Webb. As stated by The Wrap, Emma Stone, the girlfriend of Garfield who played Gwen Stacy in the 3D reboot, is still in the middle of negotiations to return to her role. Columbia Pictures has already set a release date of May 2nd 2014 for ‘Spiderman 2’ with company President Doug Belgrad sharing their confidence over the production after raking in $751 million worldwide with the first installment.
“We could not be more confident in the direction we are taking this new Spider-Man storyline and we are tremendously excited to be ramping up production again with Marc at the helm and Andrew continuing on as Peter Parker. We can’t wait to share what we have in store for Peter and Spider-Man with audiences worldwide.” Writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner are currently said to be rewriting the new script that was previously penned by James Vanderbilt. There is also said to be a third movie set to play out in theaters in the future. More details are sure to come on both Spiderman flicks.
