Ron Perlman and George Finn have been cast in the upcoming criminal action thriller, ‘Savage Mutts.’ The film, which will be produced in conjunction with Engergy Entertainment’s Independent division, was written, and is being directed by, Nika Agiashvilli. It’s scheduled to begin production in January in Los Angeles.
‘Savage Mutts’ follows Terry “Shotgun” Coburn, played by Perlman, as he’s released from maximum security prison. He sets out on a path of revenge and rampage through the criminal underworld, as he seeks a final confrontation with his brother, who is a powerful crime boos.
Agiashvilli is set to produce ‘Savage Mutts’ through his Storyman Pictures banner and with Energy Independent’s Brooklyn Weaver and Derrick Eppich. Weaver described the filmmaker as “bringing a raw, edgy, darkly comedic sensibility to his characters and storytelling-which talent is clearly reacting to. He fits squarely into the gritty, “partners-in-crime” brand we’ve been cultivating here at Energy.”
The writer-director-producer previously collaborated with Perlman on the short film ‘Freedom,’ which is part of the Georgian omnibus, ‘Tbilisi, My City,’ and is currently in post-production. Agiashvilli also produced and directed the Van Vlahakis biopic, ‘A Green Story,’ which stars Ed O’Ross, George Finn and Shannon Elizabeth, which is set to be released in April.
