A new trailer for what is one of director Steven Soderbergh’s last films before his rumored retirement has debuted. Teasing his latest, ‘Side Effects’ warns of death and despair with Rooney Mara at its core as an unstable patient whose addiction to the drug Ablixa turns into murder and betrayal. Channing Tatum also appears in the film that reunites him with his Magic Mike helmer. Playing somewhat of a hallmark husband, if you look past his recent prison stint, Tatum gets unknowingly caught up in what appears to be a love triangle as he attempts to get his life back on track with his wife. Jude Law stars as Mara’s doctor and possible lover alongside a stern Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Scribe Scott Z. Burns wrote the script for the thriller with Soderbergh. The two previously worked on both thrillers, ‘Contagion’ and ‘The Informant!’. Get the full synopsis and check out the first movie trailer for ‘Side Effects’ below. The movie is due out on February 8, 2013 with Soderbergh’s last film ‘Behind the Candelabra’ trailing behind.
“Side Effects is a psychological thriller set in the world of the pharmaceutical industry. A troubled woman (Rooney Mara) who is coping with the imminent release of her husband (Channing Tatum) from jail begins to take a new prescription drug with unforeseen consequences.”
