Tiffany Ava Mitchell, the woman accusing Lindsay Lohan of punching her in a New York City nightclub, was assaulted before her incident with the troubled actress on November 29, Celebuzz is reporting. Mitchell’s husband, Wayne V. Stevens, was arrested in February 2007 for slapping her in the face because he thought she lied to him about going to church, according to Florida police.
Stevens, who was dating Mitchell at the time of the incident, was arrested for simple battery outside the psychic’s apartment. The two had gotten into an argument, according to an arrest report from West Palm Beach Police Department. The two had an often violent relationship, the report also stated.
Mitchell and Stevens “got into a verbal dispute about where she had been for the night,” Officer James Graves wrote in the official report. “According to Mitchell, when she told him she had gone to church, he did not believe her.” Stevens allegedly told Mitchell that “he would not stop” during the fight. Graves also wrote in the report “During the course of the argument he slapped her in the face with an opened hand.”
Graves added that Mitchell said after Stevens slapped her, she tried to defend herself by fighting back. Mitchell said she told him to stop hitting her or she would call the police. “I also noticed her black shirt was torn in several spots, which would be consistent with some type of struggle,” Graves also wrote in the report.
Stevens admitted that he did engage in an argument with Mitchell, but denied he hit her. Graves also wrote that while he was talking to the suspect, he continued to change his story, and never gave a consistent statement. The case against Stevens was dismissed, however, when he appeared at Palm Beach County courthouse. Mitchell refused to press charges against her boyfriend.
As a result of Stevens’ arrest, the ‘Liz & Dick’ star has reportedly hired a private investigator to look into Mitchell’s past. The actress believes Mitchell is trying to extort money from her, after their much-publicized incident in the Chelsea neighborhood bar, Avenue. The two reportedly began arguing after Lohan allegedly said, “Give me space.” Police have said things turned physical in the VIP section of Avenue, after the actress punched Mitchell on the left side of her face.
Mitchell, who moved to New York with Stevens from Florida, was sued by Florida property developer, Alfred Marulli, in 2010. She stopped paying her $1230.41 a month lease payments in 2009.
Marulli said “Mitchell had signed a long term lease for a unit in West Palm Beach, but she wanted out so that she could move to Palm Beach to be nearer to celebrities and rich people for her psychic readings.” He added that he “wanted her to honor her lease and eventually we settled, but I consider her to be a suspect person.” The case between them was settled when she agreed to pay Marulli $12,000, after he demanded $113,000 in payments.
