During an interview with The Late Late Show on RTE Television, Martin Sheen dropped the unexpected news that he has been cast in Marc Webb’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’. “They’ve called me back, I don’t know what the part is gonna be, but I’m going to be ‘Uncle Ben’ once again in Spider-Man next year,” he shared. Adding, “We shoot in February.” As fans will remember Sheen played the role of Uncle Ben who died in the first movie after being shot down in the street.
Sheen’s return has sparked speculation that his character will appear in a dream sequence of Peter Parker’s or possibly a flashback with other plot details yet to be revealed. Sheen joins the ranks of both leading stars Andrew Garfield as Spidey and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, who are also set to reprise their roles in the franchise. Actors Dane DeHaan (Harry Osborn), Shailene Woodley (Mary Jane Watson), and Jamie Foxx (Electro) round out the cast as new additions to the reboot. The second installment of The Amazing Spider-Man will open in theaters on May 2, 2014. Sheen just recently appeared in his son Charlie Sheen’s series ‘Anger Management’ and is currently working on the movie ‘Flatland’.
