Actor Matt Damon has officially signed up to reunite with his Ocean’s Eleven co-star George Clooney in a new period drama entitled ‘The Monuments Men’. The Nazi film already includes some big names, most of who starred in Ben Affleck’s ‘Argo’. Damon will join 007’s Daniel Craig, Cate Blanchett (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Bill Murray (Groundhog Day), John Goodman (Roseanne), Jean Dujardin (The Artist), Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) and George Clooney who will play double duty as director.
‘The Monuments Men’ is an adaption of the works of author Robert M. Edsel who penned the piece that will focus in on an eleven month span from D-day to V-day back when art historians and museum curators go on a mission to save great works of art that had been confiscated by the Nazis before Hitler destroys it. The script was written by Grant Heslov and Clooney. Damon confirmed his attachment to the film while on the red carpet in New York for his movie Promised Land. “Yes, I will be in that movie!” ‘The Monuments Men’ will hit theaters on opens December 20, 2013.
Meanwhile Damon is also shooting ‘The Zero Theorem’ from director Terry Gilliam. The ‘Good Will Hunting’ star just finished production on ‘Elysium’ and ‘Behind the Candelabra’.
