‘Felicity’ star Keri Russell has signed on to play the female lead in ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’, the follow up to ‘The Rise of the Planet of the Apes’. Few details about Russell’s character has been released. The actress joins Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Kodi-Smit McPhee, Gary Oldman and Terry Notary. The 2014 release will be directed by Matt Reeves as Rupert Wyatt won’t be returning to the franchise reboot. As pointed out by Comic Book Resources, Dawn of the Apes will reunite Russell and Reeves who both worked on Felicity.
This latest Apes installment will take place more than a decade into the future after the apocalypse has struck mankind. The movie’s screenplay was written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Fox plans to release the second installment on May 23, 2014. Russell recently made a return to TV, starring in FX’s new spy drama ‘The Americans’.
