The unpredictable Filipino thriller, ‘Graceland,’ has received an official theatrical and VOD release date from Drafthouse Films. The movie will open in select theaters in New York, Los Angeles and Austin on Friday, April 26, and will be available on VOD platforms on Thursday, March 28.
Drafthouse Films acquired the North American distribution rights to the movie after it had its world premiere at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival. The movie, which was written and directed by Ron Morales, received critical acclaim and an audience award while at the festival.
‘Graceland’ thrusts viewers into the corrupt underworld of the Philippines’ capital, and exposes a world of deceit, exploitation and depravity. It depicts a desperate man’s infinite moral compromises amidst a tale of kidnapping gone wrong. The film stars Arnold Reyes, Menggie Cobarrubias and Dido De La Paz.
The movie follows Marlon Villar (Reyes), the chauffeur of Filipino politician Manuel Chango (Cobarrubias), whose car is ambushed when he drives his and the politician’s daughter home from school one afternoon. Desperate to save his daughter from the kidnapping at all costs, Marlon finds himself in a game of deceit and betrayal that causes him to compromise everything he believes in.
