Can you believe yet another “G.I. Joe” film is coming out? Well, prepare yourself, because we’re going to see the G.I. Joe team fight Cobra for at least one more time.
According to Coming Soon and Variety, “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” has opened to the tune I’m sure Paramount is loving, the tune of a whopping $132 million ($51.7 million of which came from domestic shores and the other $80.3 million from international audiences). Not only did the film do well here and overseas, but it was cheaper to make than the film before, “The Rise of Cobra.” While “The Rise of Cobra” cost $175 million, “Retaliation” cost only $130 million. Also, according to Coming Soon, “Retaliation” could end up making over $400 million, which is much more than the $303 million gross “The Rise of Cobra” made.
I think you can do the math here—with a film that has been lucrative at half the cost, Paramount’s only move is, of course, to make another “G.I. Joe” film. I’m ready for it.
What did you think of “Retaliation”? Did it have enough action for you? And even though we’re still in the middle of “Retaliation” fever, are you ready for another “G.I. Joe” film? Give your opinions in the comments section below.
