Saturday Night Live’s Jason Sudeikis and X-Men actress Rose Byrne will co-star in the indie drama Tumbledown. According to The Wrap, Byrne will play a widow from Maine who attracts Sudeiki’s character, a writer from New York. Interested in writing a piece about her husband, a folk music singer, Sudeikis’ character will show up in Byrne’s small town to investigate. Sean Mewshaw (Gangs of New York) is set to direct in what will be his debut. Joining Sudeikis and Byrne are a handful of talented actors that include Michael McKean (Planes, Trains and Automobiles), Beau Bridges (The Descendants), Olivia Munn (The Newsroom), Blythe Danner (Meet the Parents) and Joe Manganiello (True Blood).
Tumbeldown’s script was written by Desi Van Til, a first for the screenwriter who has previously produced several films, Open Heart and 13 Going on 30′. This is the first production that brings him into the writing arena. He is also working on a new project for Warner Bros. entitled Married Off. Tumbledown is set to begin production in October with the cast filming in Vancouver. Sudeikis is also attached to We’re The Millers and One Night on the Hudson while Byrne is busy with Townies after wrapping up work on The Internship and Insidious: Chapter 2.
