Lionsgate celebrated the upcoming releasing of its anticipated sequel ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. Producer Jon Kilik, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairman Patrick Wachsberger, cast members Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Sam Claflin, director Francis Lawrence, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairman Robert Friedman and producer Nina Jacobson were all present at the Photo Call for the film at the festival. ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Photo Call was held yesterday at Nespresso Beach in Cannes, France.
The follow-up film to last year’s hit sci-fi action adventure, ‘The Hunger Games,’ was produced by Jacobson’s Color Force, in partnership with Kilik. The sequel, which will be released on November 22 and is based on Suzanne Collin’s hit 2009 sci-fi novel ‘Catching Fire,’ follows Katniss, played by Lawrence, as she returns home after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games. Along with fellow tribute and winner Peeta Mellark, portrayed by Josh Hutcherson, the two must embark on a Victor’s Tour of the districts. Along the way, Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering. But the Capitol is still in control as President Snow, played by Donald Sutherland, prepares for the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell), a competition that could change Panem forever.
