Since their formation, The Pretty Reckless has continuously been on my radar. As a proud fan of “Gossip Girl”, I took note of frontwoman, Taylor Momsen, the moment I heard the outfit’s debut single, “Make Me Wanna Die” on the late CW television show. Reviving grunge with her unpolished vocals, Momsen is fully shed of her Jenny Humphrey image. Yes, there are some who say her Courtney Love style is a bit premature for a 19 year old, but Momsen “owns” her dominatrix look and manages to exude an admired confidence through all that leather.
Rounded out by Ben Phillips (guitar), Jamie Perkins (drums) and Mark Damon (bass), The Pretty Reckless recently announced the upcoming release of their sophomore album, “Going To Hell,” which will drop in late 2013. The quartet accompanied this news with an ablum trailer . In true Pretty Reckless fashion, the “Going To Hell” teaser looks dark, twisted and exceedingly alluring. This clip is the first of many to come from the outfit. The hard rock band will release frequent album updates on what they deem as “Hell Mondays”.
“Going To Hell” follows on the heels of their debut, “Light Me Up”, which claimed the #1 spot on my Top 10 Albums of 2011. The LP went on to sell over 250,000 albums worldwide. In support of the release, the outfit hit the stage in 2012 beside notable acts such as, Guns N’ Roses, Evanescence and Marilyn Manson.
Stayed tuned to the band’s official site for upcoming news on the forthcoming album.
