‘Black Swan’ director Darren Aronofsky is said to be hashing out a plan to both develop and direct the spy thriller ‘Red Sparrow’ for 20th Century Fox. The project is inspired by the book of the same name from writer Jason Matthews that was released this past June. Fox managed to score the movie rights back in April. The drama chronicles a post Soviet Union state intelligence officer named Dominika Egorova who is forced to become a trained seductress, known as a Sparrow.
Following her training she is commanded to go up against the likes of Nathaniel Nash, a first-tour officer. The story follows the two as they fall in love and must deal with the dangerous and deadly consequences of their romance. Aronofsky just wrapped up work on his latest project, the $130 million film ‘Noah’, according to Deadline. The Paramount Pictures and New Regency’s retelling of the tale will be released to theaters on March 28, 2014 with Russell Crowe (Man of Steel) in the lead role. Aside from ‘Black Swan’, Aronofsky’s credits include ‘The Wrestler’ and ‘Requiem for a Dream’.
