Voltage Pictures has acquired director Joe Dante’s ‘Burying the Ex’. The horror comedy will feature Fright Night’s Anton Yelchin and Twilight’s Ashley Greene in the lead as a couple whose relationship takes a turn for the worst after they move in together. Greene’s Evelyn is controlling while Yelton’s character’s fear for his girlfriend has only just begun. After a freak accident, Greene’s character dies, but comes back from the dead to haunt her boyfriend. Meanwhile, Yelton’s character has already moved on with his new girlfriend Olivia, played by Percy Jackson’s Alexandra Daddario. Oliver Cooper of Project X has also signed on for the film.
Dante will direct from a script written by newcomer Alan Trezza, who penned the original short film the horror is based on. Dante is known for his work on Gremlins and The Burbs. Production on ‘Burying the Ex’ is scheduled to kick off next week in Los Angeles. Yelchin just wrapped filming on Michael Almereyda’s Cymbeline and the film Only Lovers Left Alive which is set to enter theaters soon. Greene’s recent credits include the short lived series CBGB. She will also appear next in the horror flick Random and Scrubs actor Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here. A release date for Dante’s ‘Burying the Ex’ has yet to be set.
